Konica Minolta pushing boundaries with AccurioLabel 400 press launch

Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel 400 toner press is on track for first installations by early 2023 amid reports of market shifts that show 48% of converters are planning investments in new digital label presses within two years. Targeting mid- to high-volume label converters, the AccurioLabel 400 will provide affordable top-quality digital printing.

With the AccurioPress 400, market-leader Konica Minolta aims to capture a further significant share of a fast-growing sector that has an estimated 3,000-plus label converters in the mid- and high-volume sectors.

Data from research analysts IDC shows the digital labels and packaging production printer market is expected to increase at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 13.1% in a five-year period to 2025[1]. IDC states2, “The AccurioLabel 400 pushes the envelope on automation, speed, flexibility, and colour capabilities, enabling Konica Minolta to further penetrate the L&P market. The introduction of white cannot be overstated — the label converters in the mid- to high-volume space will welcome the business opportunities brought by this colour addition.” The report adds that the new press “also underlines Konica Minolta’s commitment to innovation and to driving growth in the L&P market”.

Important developments of the new AccurioLabel 400 press include the ability to expand applications with white toner, improved productivity with superfast print speeds of up to 39.9 metres per minute, and further running cost reductions thanks to even more durable parts life, as well as enhanced print quality. It is available in 4- and 5-colour configurations.

A Word from Steel Li, General Manager of Professional Print Headquarters, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia

Steel Li, General Manager of Professional Print Headquarters
“Konica Minolta is accelerating its presence in the label, packaging and embellishment markets and this magnificent machine has tremendous productivity capabilities. Targeting mid-to-high volume label converters, commercial printers and large brand owners, the AccurioLabel 400 provides affordable, top-quality digital label printing,” said Steel Li. “The new press brings another level of opportunity to enable print transformation in mid- and high-volume production markets for forward-thinking label converters. The digitization of the label industry will continue to accelerate with double-digit predicted growth annually. Opportunity is everywhere. It just takes a spark to make it happen.

He added: “We are confident of capturing significant market share with the AccurioLabel 400 that will have an extremely competitive total cost of ownership.”

Important benefits of the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 include

• Increased usability and automation thanks to Intelligent Quality Care and the IQ-520 module, which enables real time control of colour stability and colour registration, as well as automatic calibration, density adjustments and profile creation.

• A print resolution of 1200 dpi (equivalent to 3600 dpi) by 2400 dpi, plus the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 single-pass toner production press also prints on paper widths up to 330mm or 250mm.

• Ease of use for operators with multiple touch panel monitors in three different areas of the label press eliminating the need for extensive user training.

AccurioPress C7100 Wins BLI PRO Colour Award from Keypoint Intelligence

News

C7100 Wins BLI 2022 Pro Colour Award

In little more than a year since its worldwide launch, Konica Minolta’s AccurioPress C7100 cut-sheet toner production press has captured another important accolade – a Buyers Lab (BLI) 2022 Colour PRO Award from Keypoint Intelligence, the independent evaluator of document imaging hardware, software and services.

A “brilliant” performance press under exacting testing conditions, the Konica Minolta AccurioPress C7100 with EFI Fiery IC-319 Print Server was named Outstanding Mid-Volume CMYK Production Device during Keypoint Intelligence’s latest round of BLI 2022 PRO Awards. It follows on from the TÜV Rheinland certification that incorporates respective national and international coveted standards for child-safe toy safety, awarded last year.

Konica Minolta’s AccurioPress C7100/C7090 toner press series, which was launched in June 2021, runs at 100/90ppm. A range of technology and software innovations help customers to focus on agility, expansion and operational efficiency. Print Service providers benefit through advanced automation, fewer human touchpoints and improved total cost of ownership (TCO).

“In a teeming market, we are very pleased to show how brilliantly this press performed to win one of our BLI 2022 Colour PRO Awards,” said David Sweetnam, Director of Research & Lab Services EMEA/Asia at Keypoint Intelligence. “We use an algorithm across multiple test attributes to judge overall performance. The devices must deliver at a very high level in the first place to even be eligible for a PRO Award, so it’s not just a case of being best in category.”

A Word from Teh Hui Ying, PP Product Marketing Manager of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia

“At Konica Minolta, we aim to deliver outstanding value to our customers through our unique products, software and services that work smarter together. Konica Minolta Launches Accuriopress C7100 Series

Succeeding the highly successful AccurioPress C6100 Series, the new AccurioPress C7100 model runs at 100 pages per minute (ppm) with the AccurioPress C7090 at 90ppm. With a focus on optimizing performance, offering new and advanced print products, and growing the entire business, the AccurioPress C7100 series serves more customers and completes more jobs with innovative technologies that power success.

Flawless Quality

Konica Minolta’s latest Simitri V toner is eco-friendly and formulated for performance. Fast melting, energy efficient and low maintenance, it reproduces superb quality on a wider range of media up to 400 g/m2. Combined with an output resolution of 3,600 dpi equivalent x 2,400 dpi, outstanding results are achieved from even the longest print runs.

Advanced Capabilities

With auto-duplex banners up to 900mm and the flexibility to handle embossed and textured media, handling of the machines is so simple that the most complex projects can be run by a single operator.

Intelligent Automation

By instantly detecting the precise stock being used, the optional Intelligent Media Sensor IM-101 significantly reduces production time. At the same time, the optional IQ-501 Intelligent Quality Optimizer ensures perfectly consistent color quality and front-to-back registration on every print in real time.  With no recalibrations or inspections mid-run, users benefit from printing image data now directly  comparable with scanning data from IQ-501 with real time variable data print (VDP) inspection. It can be inspected for changes in text and images with real time color and registration adjustment.

Enhanced finishing

As with the entire AccurioPress portfolio, a wide range of finishing and other functions are also offered in addition to booklet-making, stapling, perfect binding and wire binding. Konica Minolta’s TU-510, the world’s first inline cutting finisher, successfully introduced with the C14000 high-volume production printer, is available for the AccurioPress C7100 Series. The TU-510 is a four-edge trimmer and creaser that allows full-bleed finishing support for long sheets, booklets, direct mail and dedicated business card cutting options.

Exceptional Durability

Reliability drives profitability. Among the new technologies built into the engine are a more durable lubricated drum, double corona wires with automatic cleaning, an optimized paper transport solution and a double swing registration system for improved paper compatibility and feeding accuracy.

The AccurioPress C7100 Series is designed to support a highly responsive print room environment where customers rethink agility and offers a choice of different controller front ends from EFI, CREO and  Konica Minolta’s own offering to perfectly match customer requirements.

A Word from Mr Koji Yoshida, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia

“The launch of the AccurioPress C7100 Series represents another really important step forward as we continue to expand our portfolio of production presses.” said Mr Koji Yoshida, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia. “We work in a partnership approach with our customers to help them rethink graphical communication in a world where the only constant thing is change. We believe that the technological advancements presented by the AccurioPress C7100 and C7090 supports the transformation of our customers, helping to predict potential challenges and creating solutions together.”

Konica Minolta helps businesses with increased profits through a press that works smarter, not harder. This was key in the development of AccurioPress C7100 and AccurioPress C7090. Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e Press Wins BLI 2021-2022 PaceSetter Award from Keypoint Intelligence

Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e Press Wins BLI 2021-2022 PaceSetter Award from Keypoint Intelligence

Konica Minolta is proud to announce it has received a Buyers Lab (BLI) 2021-2022 PaceSetter in Production Print Applications: Output Variety from Keypoint Intelligence, the world’s leading and independent evaluator of document imaging hardware, software and services. Based on research conducted, these accolades celebrate those OEMs that best support their customers on reducing costs and/or increasing business based on different printing applications. Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e LED UV Inkjet Press was specifically recognized for its ability to print on a wide variety of substrates.

Being able to print in a larger variety of substrates increases the number of applications that a print service provider (PSP) can produce and sell. And according to feedback from Keypoint Intelligence, the Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1e with UV inks enables users to print on an array of media that other cut-sheet technologies cannot, while greeting cards, gift cards, hotel room keys, and even ID badges can be printed on texture film or PVC. Other applications could be printed on synthetics, PET adhesive, polypropylene, and polyethylene.

“Art applications printed on canvas sizes up to 23″x29.5″ can be output on the KM-1e,” said German Sacristan, Director of On Demand Printing at Keypoint Intelligence. “Additionally, the KM-1e has an offline laser-cutting system specifically built for the B2+ sheet size that is capable of producing different types of sleek finishes. Also important is that Konica Minolta supports its customers’ success with business development and a customized professional service program.”

A Word from Mr Koji Yoshida, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia

“With the AccurioJet KM-1e, we aim to solve customers’ challenges by the means of digital printing through further automation, integrated on-demand digital production and visualization of quality and operation.” said Mr Koji Yoshida, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia. “The AccurioJet KM-1e is a key pillar in our strategy to help commercial printers with new profitable applications, in alignment with business transformation trend of converting from offset to inkjet printing in a fast-growing market. This award by Keypoint Intelligence further reinforces the underlying technologies in the KM-1e. Our customers can look forward to unparalleled productivity levels using LED UV inkjet technology.”

About the AccurioJet KM-1e B2+ UV Inkjet Press

Launched in May 2021, Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1, which is referred to as the “Swiss Army Knife” of printing thanks to its versatility with substrates and applications. Its successor, the AccurioJet KM-1e will benefit from Konica Minolta’s unique Dot Freeze Technology™. The patented process, known as DFT, has overcome one of the fundamental challenges of inkjet printing – uncontrolled ink dot movement that reduces print quality and workable materials. The technology uniquely self-freezes ink drops upon contact with materials, resulting in superior colour stability and consistency and excellent results with instantly dry perfects prints.

Customers can experience a live demonstration of the AccurioJet KM-1e from their own homes or offices with a Konica Minolta representative through scheduled appointments in Konica Minolta’s very own Virtual Showroom. This new immersive experience for customers and prospects is part of its holistic approach in the “new normal”.

Konica Minolta MFPs exceed industry standards for cybersecurity compliance

News

alt="Konica Minolta MFPs exceed industry standards for cybersecurity compliance"

Konica Minolta announced the results from penetration testing on its bizhub i-Series multifunction printers, conducted to ensure the product line is compliant with the highest data privacy and endpoint security standards. The bizhub i-Series features multiple next-generation technologies, including solid-state storage, a new code base, firmware and integrated cloud services. No vulnerabilities were found during recent tests performed on the devices by NTT DATA Security Services, a division of NTT Ltd.

Network-connected devices offer end users tremendous opportunities for collaboration and ease of use. Unfortunately, those same endpoint devices are attractive targets for hackers. By exploiting a security vulnerability in a connected device, a skilled hacker can expose an entire network to data theft, business disruption and financial turmoil.

Konica Minolta puts their products through rigorous internal cybersecurity tests to protect their systems and ensure they meet PCI, HIPAA, FERPA and GDPR compliance requirements. But to further assure customers that the printers exceed industry standards for cybersecurity compliance, Konica Minolta invested in an extra layer of threat protection — penetration tests provided by NTT DATA Security Services, a division of NTT Ltd.

Konica Minolta provided a line of its multifunction printers and their source code to NTT DATA for penetration testing. After spending approximately 80 hours trying to hack into the devices, NTT DATA engineers did not find any major security vulnerabilities. These results fortify Konica Minolta’s reputation for offering secure products and helps drive the product line’s success.
